Brown Sugar and Bacon Baked Beans

So who’s up for some sweet lovin’ bacon? This recipe is a breeze, seriously the quickest, easiest beans and bacon recipe you will ever make! A perfect side dish for barbeque and to bring to potlucks. The kids will surely enjoy this. I am all grown and I am addicted to it! It is a total bummer if I run out of beans so I always make extra. Because everyone loves this savory yet sweet beans. This is so freaking delicious everyone will think that you slaved in the kitchen all day! Even if you are not a crazy bean fan, I am sure you’ll dig this.

Ingredients

10 slices bacon halved
1 yellow onion finely diced
1/2 green bell pepper finely diced
54 oz can pork and beans or an equivalent number of smaller cans
4 tablespoons ketchup
1/4 cup molasses
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup cider vinegar
2 teaspoons dry mustard

How to make Brown Sugar and Bacon Baked Beans

Step 1: Cook the bacon the way you like it. Drain on paper towels and set aside.

Step 2: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 325 degrees. Then, set the rack on the lower-middle rack position.

Step 3: Heat about 2 tablespoons of the bacon grease or butter in a deep skillet over medium heat. Once heated, saute the diced onion and green pepper for approximately 5 minutes or until softened.

Step 4: Add in the pork and beans, ketchup, molasses, brown sugar, cider vinegar, and dry mustard. Stir well to combine. Let it simmer for a minute or more.

Step 5: Meanwhile, grease a 13 x 9-inch baking dish.

Step 6: Carefully pour the beans into the prepared baking dish. Place the cooked bacon on top of the beans.

Step 7: Place inside the preheated oven and bake for about 2 to 3 hours. The baking time depends on your desired consistency.

Step 8: Once done, remove from the oven and let the beans cool for about 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
