Cranberry Orange Bread

by 247tasty

Servings: one 9×5-inch loaf

This is a beautiful bread that you can make using simple ingredients and ready in no time. Moist orange bread filled with cranberries. I suggest making this the night before serving for best results. Simply allow the bread to cool completely, then wrap it and store.

This Cranberry Orange Bread is a classic recipe minus the nuts. The combination of cranberry and orange is a fabulous duo – tangy, zesty, with loads of freshness! This sweet and gorgeous dessert is one of my fave DIY gift-giving gifts. I make this always during holidays as this bread is a must, and holidays will never be complete without this impressive cranberry orange bread. The truth is, I make this all year round, whenever I want!

Ingredients

1 Egg, well beaten
1 c. sugar
3/4 c. orange juice
1 tbsp grated orange peel
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
2 tbsp shortening
1 tsp salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)
2 c. fresh or frozen cranberries, coarsely chopped

How to make Cranberry Orange Bread

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F and butter a 9 x 5-inch loaf pan.

Step 2: In a medium mixing bowl, place the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. Mix well until combined, then stir in the orange juice along with the orange peel, shortening, and egg. Mix again. Once blended, fold in the cranberries and nuts if using. Into the prepared loaf pan, evenly spread the batter.

Step 3: Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the bread comes out clean. Remove from the oven when done and allow the bread to cool for at least 15 minutes on a rack.

Step 4: After 15 minutes, take the bread from the pan and let it cool completely. Wrap the bread and keep it overnight.
