This moist, chocolatey cake with a layer of creamy caramel is to die for! The combination of chocolate and caramel is a match made in heaven. Their flavors compliment each other, a perfect harmony. Every bite is simply heaven! And the pecans and chocolate chips make this a top-notch cake.

Making this cake is a breeze. You’d think at first that this is difficult to pull off but you’re wrong. It’s pretty intimidating to look at but I assure you, even if you are not a professional baker you can be able to make this gorgeous, rich chocolate and creamy caramel cake. All you need is a few ingredients and a double boiler. This sure is a hit and a crowd-pleaser. It is so rich, mouthwatering, and an ultimate sweet tooth fixer. A little goes a long way with this easy to make homemade chocolate turtle cake. And it is perfect for any occasion or just as a dessert on a regular day. My favorite cake to make and eat.


1 cup of chocolate chips
2 cups pecans
3/4 cup melted butter
1/2 cup evaporated milk
1 (14 ounces) bags caramels
1 1/3 cups water
1/3 cup oil
3 eggs
1 (18 ounce) boxes German chocolate cake mix


Step 1: Prepare the cake mix according to package instruction.

Step 2: And pour the batter in a 13 x 9-inch pan.

Step 3: Place the pan inside the oven and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.

Step 4: After 15 minutes, remove the cake from the oven and let it cool.

Step 5: Add the caramels, milk, and butter in a double boiler. Constantly stir until the butter is melted.

Step 6: Once the melted, pour the mixture over the cooling cake.

Step 7: Sprinkle over a cup of pecans and chocolate chips.

Step 8: Then, pour the rest of the batter over and continue baking for another 20 minutes.
