Famous Pound Cake

This classic cake has a soft, buttery crumb that I love so much. It is a dense, heavy cake but not at all dry. Every bite just melts in your mouth. A pretty straightforward dessert that requires only a few simple ingredients to make. And you don’t need to be a pro to pull this off. Make yourself proud, this cake is as easy as counting to ten. Surely, everyone will enjoy and love the soft and crumbly texture of this Famous Pound Cake.



1 box Duncan Hines butter recipe cake mix
1 cupcake flour
1 c of sugar
1 c sour cream (room temperature)
1 stick butter (room temperature)
5 Eggs, room temp
1/4 c oil
1/4 c water
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp butter flavouring
1 tsp almond extract


2 c powdered sugar
1/4 c lemon juice

How to make Famous Pound Cake

Step 1: Ready the oven. Preheat it to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.

Step 2: Use Baker’s Joy to grease a tube bundt pan.

Step 3: Combine the cake mix, cake flour, sugar, sour cream, butter, eggs, oil, water, vanilla extract, butter flavouring, and almond extract in a large mixing bowl until incorporated. Then, transfer into the prepared pan.

Step 4: Bake in the preheated oven for about 55 to 65 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the centre of the cake comes out clean.

Step 5: Once done, remove the cake from the oven and allow it to cool for at least 10 to 15 minutes at room temperature before inverting it onto a serving platter.

Step 6: Mix the lemon juice and sugar in a small mixing bowl until well combined.

Step 7: Drizzle the glaze over the entire cooled cake and spread evenly.
