Tender and juicy chicken breasts topped with caramelized onions and incredible gooey mozzarella and parmesan cheese. With its superb, distinct flavour is the best and never fail to impress. Perfect to serve with salad, honey glazed carrots, oven-roasted potatoes, and more.
Ingredients
4 onions, peeled and sliced
4 tablespoons Butter
4 cloves Garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon Pepper
1 teaspoon thyme
2/3 c Low Sodium Beef Broth
2 tablespoons Balsamic Vinegar
4 Chicken Breasts, boneless skinless
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 c Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
1/2 c Parmesan Cheese, shredded
How to make French Onion Chicken Bake
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 400 degrees.
Step 2: Use cooking spray to grease a baking dish.
Step 3: In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium to high heat. Saute the onions for about 5 minutes, occasionally stirring. Adjust the heat to medium and stir in the garlic, pepper, and thyme. Cook for a minute more before pouring in the beef broth and adding in the balsamic vinegar. Cook for another 10 minutes until the onions reached a jam-like consistency.
Step 4: Add around 1/3 of the caramelized onions into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Step 5: Put the chicken over the onions and season with salt.
Step 6: Add the rest of the onions over the chicken and sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
Step 7: Place inside the preheated oven and bake for about 30 minutes or until the internal temperature of the chicken reached 165 degrees.
Step 8: Once done, serve warm. Enjoy!
Notes:
1. Cut the chicken in half diagonally if they are thick. Making sure that they are about the same size.
2. If desired, add more spices.
