I love tomatoes but I normally use red ones or eat them fresh. Now that I found this amazing recipe, I think I’m going to love the green ones just the same. Coated in eggs, seasoned bread crumbs, and bake in perfection – this gooey with incredible texture and flavour dish made it to the top!

Ingredients

2 large eggs eggs
4 cups Italian seasoned bread crumbs
10 medium (blank)s green tomatoes, sliced 1/2-inch thick
6 cups spaghetti sauce, divided
1 (16 ounces) package shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
½ teaspoon dried basil

How to make Fried Green Tomato Parmesan

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F or 175 degrees C.

Step 2: In a small bowl, whisk the eggs until smooth.

Step 3: In a shallow dish, place the bread crumbs.

Step 4: Coat the tomato slices first in egg, then, in bread crumbs.

Step 5: Arrange the coated tomato slices in a single layer on a baking sheet.

Step 6: Place inside the preheated oven and bake for about 5 minutes on each side.

Step 7: In the bottom of a 9 x 13-inch baking dish, pour 3 cups spaghetti sauce. Layer the tomato slices on top followed by half of the mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese.

Step 8: Do the same with the rest of the ingredients before you sprinkle the basil over.

Step 9: Place again in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 35 minutes or until golden brown.
