This moist banana bread is one of my Grandma’s favourite treats! This uses six mashed bananas along with pantry-friendly ingredients. It is very easy to whip up and comes out perfectly moist with the best banana flavour. If you particularly like a sweet treat, then this is for you! I and grandma have the sweetest tooth in the family, and we enjoy this banana bread so much. When serving, we top a slice of this bread with butter, and it’s heaven! If desired, you can add in some chocolate chips or crushed peanuts. I do most of the time, and it makes so much difference! Make sure to give this simple recipe a try very soon and enjoy the most wonderfully moist and flavorful banana bread you’ll ever taste!
Ingredients
4 eggs
1 c. margarine, softened
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 c. buttermilk
3 ½ c. all-purpose flour
3 c. sugar
2 tsp baking soda
6 very ripe bananas, mashed
¼ tsp salt
How to make Grandma’s Banana Bread
Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 325 degrees F or 165 degrees C. Then, lightly oil a 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
Step 2: Cream the sugar and margarine in a large bowl until light and fluffy. Whisk in the eggs a piece at a time, beating well every after addition. Then, mix in the vanilla.
Step 3: Sift the flour, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl. Whisk this into the egg mixture, alternately with the buttermilk. Mix until blended, then fold in the mashed bananas. Make sure to mix just enough until evenly incorporated. Into the prepared pan, pour the batter.
Step 4: Place in the preheated oven and bake for about 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the loaf comes out clean.
