This dish is perfect if you have some leftover ham from the night or day before. Not only that it tastes amazing but this dish has everything. It is budget-friendly, hearty, filling, and easy to prepare. A no-fuss, just leave-it-to-cook dish. This slow cooker green beans, ham, and potatoes is a great addition to your dinner menu, even your picky eaters will love this. A great side dish and can be served along with your favorite main dish. I make this especially after Thanksgiving or a big occasion as this is a great way to not put to waste those leftover hams.
Ingredients
2 lb fresh green beans, rinsed and trimmed
1 large onion, chopped
3 ham hocks
1 1⁄2 lb new potato, quartered
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon seasoning salt
1 tablespoon chicken bouillon, granules
1 ground black pepper, to taste
How to make Slow Cooker Green Beans, Ham, and Potatoes
Step 1: Slice the beans in halves if they are large. Then, place them in a slow cooker. Pour enough water to barely cover the beans and add in the onion and ham hocks.
Step 2: Cover the slow cooker and cook on high. Once simmering, adjust the heat to low and cook for another 2 to 3 hours or until the beans are crisp but not done.
Step 3: Now, add in the potatoes and continue to cook for 45 minutes more.
Step 4: While cooking the potatoes, remove the ham hocks from the slow cooker. Debone the meat, then, chop and shred. Return the shredded meat into the slow cooker and season with garlic powder, onion powder, seasoning salt, bouillon, and pepper.
Step 5: Remain cooking until the potatoes are done. Adjust the seasoning according to taste.
Step 6: With a slotted spoon, scoop the beans, potatoes, and ham into a serving dish. Pour in a little broth and serve immediately. This will accommodate 10 servings. Enjoy!
