This recipe says breakfast casserole, but in reality, this delicious casserole with sausage, cheddar cheese, tater tots, eggs, milk, garlic, onion, and black pepper is also great for lunch or dinner. Plus, you can make this in advance and simply place it in the fridge or freeze it. A must recipe and sure to keep! Don’t let this day passed by without trying this Tater Tot Sausage Breakfast Casserole out. It’s a life-changer!


2 pounds hot breakfast sausage
1 (30-32 ounces) bag frozen tater tots
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1-1/2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 c. mozzarella cheese
8 Eggs
2 c. milk


Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F. And using cooking spray, lightly grease a 9 x 13-inch pan.

Step 2: Cook the sausage in a large skillet until no longer pink. When done, drain the fat.

Step 3: Place the tater tots, cooked sausage, and cheeses in a large bowl. Toss well, then transfer into the prepared pan.

Step 4: In a bowl, whisk the eggs, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and milk until well combined. Pour this over the tater tot mixture. If baking later, cover the casserole and place it in the fridge. If serving right away, place in the preheated oven and bake for about 60 to 70 minutes, uncovered, until the eggs are set.


1. You can prep this casserole ahead of time and just store it in the fridge or freeze it.

2. To bake this casserole after refrigerating, add a couple of minutes to the cooking time.

3. Thaw the casserole completely when frozen, then, bake as instructed.

4. To reheat, make sure to thaw completely before covering with aluminium foil and baking for about 30 to 40 minutes at 350 degrees F oven until heated through.
