by 247tasty

I used to watch my grandma make this Amish Cinnamon Bread. I remembered her telling me that when I grow older she will teach me how to make it and that she did! I have been making this ever since. This recipe is a keeper and will always have a special place in my heart. It’s super easy to make, you don’t need to knead the dough, just dump everything in loaf pans, sprinkle with cinnamon, and bake. It’s perfect to serve for breakfast and dessert, but I eat it whenever I want! This sweet bread is what every family needs and you got to share this with your loved ones and friends to show them how much you love them.

For the Batter

1 cup butter, softened
2 cups of sugar
2 eggs
2 cups buttermilk or 2 cups milk plus 2 tablespoons vinegar or lemon juice
4 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking soda

Cinnamon/sugar mixture

2/3 cups sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon

Step 1: Place the butter, sugar, and eggs in a mixing bowl and cream.

Step 2: Stir in the milk, flour, and baking soda.

Step 3: Put half of the batter or maybe a little less into greased loaf pans. About 1/4 batter in each pan.

Step 3: In another bowl, mix the 2/3 cup of sugar and cinnamon.

Step 4: Then, sprinkle at least 3/4 of the cinnamon mixture over the half of the batter in each pan.

Step 5: For the remaining batter, add it to the pans and sprinkle with the rest of the cinnamon.

Step 6: Use a knife to swirl the top of the batter.

Step 7: Place inside the oven and bake for 45 to 50 minutes at 350 degrees. Insert a toothpick in the center, when it comes out clean the bread is done.

Step 8: Remove from the oven and let the bread cool in the pan for 20 minutes. Then, transfer to a bread plate.
