French toasts are my favourite breakfast. They are pretty simple to make and never fail to complete our day! We serve them with our favourite toppings such as a dab of butter and drizzles of maple syrup, powdered sugar, even fruits. It’s an amazing breakfast to jump-start your day.
This is a classic recipe featuring slices of Brioche bread in a sweet egg-soaked cooked until perfectly golden-brown. I know there are so many French toast recipes, but this is has been my favourite and go-to for years. Simple, fast, and family-approved!
Ingredients
8 ounces (8 slices) of Brioche bread
4 large eggs
3 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 tablespoon brown sugar
Pinch of salt
dash of cinnamon, optional
How to make The Best French Toast
Step 1: After slicing the bread, set them aside.
Step 2: Place the eggs, heavy whipping cream, vanilla extract, sugar, and salt in a deep and wide bowl. Combine until smooth and set aside.
Step 3: On medium to medium-low heat, preheat a large cooking pan. Then, add a few tbsp canola oils to the preheated pan, spreading it evenly.
Step 4: Into the egg mixture, sip the slices of bread, including the edges. For this recipe, I used Brioche bread as it quickly soaks up the egg. Feel free to batter as many slices of bread that can fit into the pan. You can cook in batches if needed, just batter the bread right before adding it to the pan.
Step 5: Into the preheated pan, place the battered slices and cook on each side for about 3 to 4 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the pan and cook the remaining bread slices. Serve them with your desired topping. Enjoy!
Note:
The egg mixture can accommodate 8 slices of Brioche bread sliced between half to an inch thickness. If using a French baguette, the mixture can batter 10 to 12 slices or around 6 slices of Challah.
