I love this Amish Cinnamon Bread. It’s easy and quick to make, and no kneading is required. All you have to do is mix the ingredients and bake! I don’t buy cinnamon bread from the bakeshops anymore. I made them myself beginning when I found this simple recipe. It’s the same as the ones we can buy from our favourite bakeshop if not better. And the best part is, kneading is not necessary! So even if I have a little time to spare from my always busy schedule, I can make this by simply combining the ingredients, and voila!
I am obsessed with the almost cinnamon coffee cake flavour of this bread with wonderful spice and the perfect amount of sweetness. Last year, I made a bunch and gave them out as gifts. I just put them in cute boxes and wrote some personalized dedication. And you can serve this for breakfast or an after-school snack.
Ingredients
BATTER:
1/2 cup salted butter
1 cup sugar
1 large egg
1 cup buttermilk
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
CINNAMON/SUGAR MIXTURE:
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
How to make Amish Cinnamon Bread
Step 1: In a mixing bowl, cream the butter with a cup of sugar and eggs. Add the buttermilk along with the flour and baking soda.
Step 2: Combine 1/3 cup of sugar with cinnamon in a different bowl.
Step 3: Into a greased loaf pan, add half of the batter (or less if desired) and sprinkle with 3/4 of the cinnamon mixture. Top with the rest of the batter then sprinkles the remaining cinnamon topping over. Using a knife, swirl the topping.
Step 4: Place in a preheated 350 degrees and bake for about 45 to 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the middle of the bread comes out clean. Remove from the oven when done and let the bread cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes.
