Baked Cod Recipe with Lemon and Garlic

One of my favorite ways to cook cod is apart from Pan-Seared Cod in White Wine Tomato Basil Sauce. This baked cod with lemon and garlic is a mouthwatering cod dish that anyone can whip up easily in a blink. Enjoy a Mediterranean-style meal at home with this scrumptious twenty-minute meal.


¼ c. chopped fresh parsley leaves
1.5 pound Cod fillet pieces, 4-6 pieces

Lemon Sauce:

2 tbsp melted butter
5 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
5 garlic cloves, minced
5 tbsp fresh lemon juice


1 tsp ground coriander
¾ tsp ground cumin
¾ tsp sweet Spanish paprika
½ tsp black pepper
¾ tsp salt
⅓ c. all-purpose flour

How to make Baked Cod Recipe with Lemon and Garlic?

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 400 degrees F.

Step 2: In a shallow bowl, add the lemon juice, olive oil, and melted butter. Mix well and set aside.

Step 3: Combine the all-purpose flour with spices, salt, and pepper in another shallow bowl until well blended. Set aside.

Step 4: Before dipping the fish in the lemon sauce, make sure to pat the fish dry. Then, coat in the flour mixture. Shake the excess off. Set the lemon sauce aside for later.

Step 5: In a cast-iron skillet or an oven-safe pan, heat 2 tbsp olive oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering but not smoking, add the fish to the skillet and sear each side for about 2 minutes until you see some color. You do not need to completely cook the fish. Set the fish aside when done.

Step 6: Add the minced garlic to the reserved lemon sauce and stir well. Drizzle this over the fish fillets. Then, place in the preheated oven and bake for about 10 minutes until the fish flakes easily using a fork.

Step 7: Remove from the oven when done and garnish with some chopped parsley. Serve right away. Enjoy!
