Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry

Easily make your favourite take-out dish at home with this simple beef and broccoli stir fry. Have this ready on your dinner table in less than thirty minutes and serve with a bowl of rice for a delicious meal any time!

Ingredients

2 tablespoons olive oil
1 pound broccoli
1 pound flank steak
3 tbsp light brown sugar
2 cloves garlic minced
1 tsp ginger grated
¼ tsp red pepper flakes
¼ c. low sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
1 tablespoon cornstarch
½ c. water

How to make Beef and Broccoli Stir Fry

Step 1: Whisk 1 tbsp cornstarch with half a cup of water in a small mixing bowl until well mixed. Then, add 1/4 cup each low sodium soy sauce and brown sugar along with 1 tsp grated fresh ginger, 2 cloves minced garlic, and ¼ tsp red pepper flakes. Mix well until blended and set aside.

Step 2: Into bite-size pieces, cut the broccoli head and set it aside.

Step 3: Into about 1/4-inch thickness, slice the flank steak against the grain. Set aside.

Step 4: To the hot skillet over medium heat, drizzle 1 tbsp olive oil. Then, add the broccoli florets and stir. Add 2 tbsp water and put the lid on. Cook the florets for a couple of minutes until soft. Uncover and finish cooking until the water has been completely absorbed. To a plate, transfer the broccoli florets and set them aside.

Step 5: To the now-empty pan, add 1 tbsp olive oil. Adjust the heat to high and arrange the beef in a single layer. Cook the beef for a couple of minutes, stirring often, until completely cooked.

Step 6: Adjust the heat to medium/low once the beef is cooked. Then, pour in the sauce mixture and toss with the meat. Continue to cook further until the sauce begins to bubble and thicken. Toss in the broccoli. Lastly, sprinkle everything with some sesame seeds.

Step 7: Serve the beef and broccoli stir fry immediately with a bowl of rice. Enjoy!
