Best Chocolate Banana Bread

Tender, moist, and full of flavour, this chocolate banana bread is the best you’ll ever make! Packed with chocolate chips and crunchy walnuts, you have a superstar in the making!

Ingredients

1 c all-purpose flour
1/2 c cocoa powder
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp sea salt
1 1/2 c mashed bananas (about 3 medium bananas)
1 large Egg (room temperature)
1/4 c unsalted butter (melted)
1/4 c canola oil
1 c light brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 c large semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 c walnuts (chopped)

How to make Best Chocolate Banana Bread

Step 1: Prepare the oven. Preheat it to 350 degrees F.

Step 2: Use the nonstick baking spray to grease a 9 x 5-inch oaf pan. Set aside.

Step 3: Combine the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and sea salt in a medium bowl. Or sift the ingredients first if you have enough time. Set aside.

Step 4: Add the ripe bananas in a large bowl. Use a fork to mash them until no bigger chunks are left. Then, add in the slightly cooled melted butter, oil, vanilla, and eggs. Whisk until incorporated.

Step 5: Add in the brown sugar and mix until smooth.

Step 6: Gently fold the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients using a spatula. Be very careful not to overmix the batter.

Step 7: Add in 3/4 cup of chocolate chips followed by the chopped walnuts. Stir to incorporate.

Step 8: Place the batter into the prepared pan and sprinkle with the rest of the 1/4 cup of chocolate chips over.

Step 9: Place inside the preheated oven and bake for about 50 to 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the centre of the bread comes out clean. Begin to check the bread at the 50 minutes mark to see if it still needs to bake more, checking on it every 5 minutes.

Step 10: Once done, remove from the oven and onto a wire cooling rack. Allow the bread to cool in the pan for at least 15 minutes. Then, run a knife around the edges to easily remove the bread from the pan. Let the bread sit on the wire rack until slightly warm.

Step 11: Before serving, slice and serve. Enjoy!
