Blackberry Cobbler with Brown Butter Topping, serves 8-10

INGREDIENTS

8 cups blackberries
3 tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons flour
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg (or ½ tsp cinnamon)
4 tablespoons butter cut into small pieces
2 cups flour
3 tablespoons sugar
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup Crisco
¼ cup ice water
4 tablespoons brown butter
2 tablespoons turbinado sugar (or large crystal crunchy sugar)

How to make Blackberry Cobbler with Brown Butter Topping

Step 1: Mix the fruit, sugar, flour, and nutmeg in a large bowl. Gently mix until the fruit is thoroughly coated.

Step 2: In a buttered 9 x 13-inch baking dish, pile the fruit mixture and place the butter pats over randomly.

Step 3: Mix the flour, sugar, salt, and Crisco in a bowl of a food processor. Add in the ice water and pulse until the mixture has a crumb mixture. Once mixed, sprinkle on top of the fruit.

Step 4: Melt the rest of the butter until the color is nutty brown. And drizzle over the pastry chunks. Making sure you get all the tiny brown crumbs out of the pan.

Step 5: Sprinkle over 2 tablespoons of crunchy sugar.

Step 6: Place the dish inside the oven and bake at 400 degrees for approximately 40 minutes or until the cobbler pastry is golden brown and crispy and the fruit is bubbling.

Step 7: Once done, remove from the oven and let the cobbler cool for a bit. Serve with vanilla ice cream. Enjoy!
