A fun treat perfect for parties, holidays, and simply get together. Super easy and quick to make, with butter, marshmallows, candy bits, crispy rice cereal, fruit-flavoured breakfast cereal, and bourbon that’s ready in less than 30 minutes! Rainbow coloured Rice Krispies treats – festive looking, and inviting, you guests, young and adults will be drawn towards these sprinkle of colours treat.


½ cup butter
1 (16 ounces) package miniature marshmallows
2 tablespoons bourbon
1 teaspoon salt
1 cupcake mix with candy bits (such as Pillsbury® Funfetti®)
5 cups crispy rice cereal (such as Rice Krispies®), divided
2 cups fruit-flavoured breakfast cereal (such as Post® Fruity Pebbles®), divided
1 pinch sea salt


Step 1: Use parchment paper to line a 9 × 13-inch cake pan.

Step 2: Melt the butter on a large pot over medium-low heat for about 3 to 4 minutes or until completely melted and caramel browned.

Step 3: Add in the marshmallows and continue to cook for another 2 to 3 minutes or until fully melted.

Step 4: Sprinkle a tsp of salt and pour in the bourbon. Thoroughly stir until well mixed.

Step 5: Stir in the cake mix until dissolved and allow the mixture to sit at room temperature.

Step 6: Immediately add in half flavoured fruit and half rice cereal. Stir until incorporated before adding in the remaining cereal and stirring some more to mixed.

Step 7: Pour the mixture into the prepared pan and lightly press at the bottom. To taste, season with sea salt.
