HOMEMADE BANANA PUDDING PIE

A phenomenal dessert with layers of fresh bananas, vanilla wafer crumbs, and meringue. You’ll love the crunchy crust, soft and sweet pudding, and thick banana slices of this indulgent homemade banana pudding pie. Surely a must-try!

Ingredients

2 cups vanilla wafer crumbs
3 medium (7″ to 7-7/8″ long) s bananas, sliced into 1/4 inch slices
1 ½ cups white sugar
¼ cup all-purpose flour
2 cups of milk
3 large egg yolks egg yolks
2 teaspoons butter
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 large egg whites egg whites
¼ cup white sugar

HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE BANANA PUDDING PIE

Step 1: Ready the oven. Preheat it to 175 degrees C or 350 degrees F.

Step 2: On the sides and bottom of a 9-inch pie plate, make layers of banana slices and vanilla wafer crumbs.

Make the Pudding:

Step 3: In a medium saucepan, combine the 1 1/2 cups of sugar, flour, milk, and egg yolks until incorporated. Pour in the remaining milk followed by margarine or butter. Adjust the heat to low and continue to cook until thick.

Step 4: Take the saucepan out of the heat and stir in the vanilla extract until well mixed. Pour into the pie plate half of the pudding and evenly spread.

Step 5: Top with banana and vanilla wafers before pouring in the other half of the pudding, spreading evenly.

Make the Meringue:

Step 6: In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg whites. Gradually stir in 1/4 cup sugar until stiff peaks form.

Step 7: Add the meringue on top of the pudding and spread.

Step 8: Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes or until the top is brown.

Step 9: Allow to cool at room temperature, then, chill in the fridge.
