Homestyle Caramel Bread Pudding

Bread pudding is one of the easiest to make comfort food. There are gazillions of recipes for bread pudding you’ll find online but this one is my ultimate favourite. This Homestyle Caramel Bread Pudding is perfect to serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Super good, you’ll surely come back for more!

When I first made this, I did not include the raisins. I am not a big fan of raisins so I just have to omit them and it turned out incredible as expected. If you like raisins, go ahead and add them. You can also easily double the recipe if you’d like.

Ingredients

BREAD PUDDING:

2 cups whole milk
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/3 cup sugar
3 Eggs
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
3 cups bread, torn into pieces (use any bread you’d like, although french bread or raisin bread is great)
1/4 cup raisins

SAUCE:

1 cup whole milk
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1 tablespoon flour
dash(es) salt

How to make Homestyle Caramel Bread Pudding

Step 1: Heat the milk in a saucepan over medium heat. Add in the butter, stirring continuously until melted. Set aside.

Step 2: Add the sugar, eggs, cinnamon, and vanilla to a different container and mix well. Gradually add in the milk mixture. Set aside for now.

Step 3: In a casserole dish, place the torn pieces of bread.

Step 4: Over the bread, pour the batter and sprinkle with raisins.

Step 5: Place in a preheated 350 degrees F oven and bake for about 45 to 50 minutes until set.

TO MAKE THE SAUCE:

Step 1: In a saucepan, add the sauce ingredients (whole milk, softened butter, sugar, pure vanilla extract, flour, and salt). Mix well and bring to a boil while constantly stirring.

Step 2: When done, remove from the heat and allow to cool for a couple of minutes. Then, pour over the bread pudding.
