Ingredients

1 (.25 ounce) package active dry yeast
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1 ⅛ teaspoons salt
1 ½ cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup bread flour
2 cups warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2 tablespoons baking soda
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 tablespoons coarse kosher salt

HOW TO MAKE MALL PRETZELS

Step 1: Combine the brown sugar, 1 1/2 cups of warm water, and yeast in a large mixing bowl and stir until the yeast and sugar have thoroughly dissolved before adding in the flour. Continue to stir until well mixed.

Step 2: Knead the dough on a flat surface for about 8 minutes or until stretchy and smooth.

Step 3: Use cooking spray to grease a mixing bowl. Transfer the dough into the prepared bowl. Cover and allow the dough to rise for an hour.

Step 4: Mix the baking soda with 2 cups of warm water in an 8-inch square pan until well combined.

Step 5: Use parchment paper to line 6 baking sheets.

Step 6: Grab the dough and slice it into 12 evenly pieces.

Step 7: Roll into 3-foot pencil-thin ropes each piece of dough.

Step 8: To form a pretzel, twist the dough and dip them into the baking soda solution. Put each pretzel into the prepared baking sheet and let them rise for at least 15 to 20 minutes.

Step 9: Meanwhile, ready the oven. Preheat it to 230 degrees C or 450 degrees F.

Step 10: Bake the pretzels in the preheated oven for about 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 11: Once done, remove the pretzels from the oven and brush with melted butter. Sprinkle each with garlic salt, coarse salt, and sugar before serving. Enjoy!

Note:

To make it easier to form the dough into pretzels, first roll them into half their length.
