Sausage and Sauerkraut

Sauerkraut and sausage are perfect summers grilling party foods because you can keep those polished sausages on the grill for a few hours to cook, making sure you have hot food ready for the gathering. In this hearty casserole recipe, you can use kielbasa, knackwurst, or bratwurst that is perfect for a cold winter night out. In this combination with vegetables, every type of smoked German sausage goes well and sauerkraut is delicious and warming. Before making that dish, the sausages should be fully cooked and sliced.

Sauerkraut has its supporters and haters. This typical food is spice and fermented cod. Vitamins and nutrients of chalk have been a good way for winter to be preserved. Directions:

2. Preheat the oven at about 325 ° F (165 ° C). Grease a baking dish measuring 9×13 inches.

3. Place the bacon and onion over medium heat in a skillet, and cook until the bacon is almost crisp and the onion begins to brown for about 10 minutes. Stir the mixture of bacon into the sauerkraut. Fry the kielbasa sausage in the remaining bacon grease in the same skillet until the sausage starts to smoke, 10 to 15 minutes; whisk in the sauerkraut mixture. In the lined baking platter, spoon the sauerkraut and sausage mixture.

4. Bake until bubbling, approximately 1 hour in the preheated oven.

Tip:

Canola oil is high in monounsaturated fat, a form which helps lower blood cholesterol levels, and low in saturated fat, which can increase blood cholesterol levels. In this recipe too, olive oil would taste great and has the same healthy-fat properties.
