Skillet-Braised Brussels Sprouts

Bacon and Brussels sprouts. Anyone? Today’s recipe is one of my favorite dishes to cook. It gives the perfect balance of greasy and healthy elements. I usually prepare this on Friday night’s dinner. It’s kind of a celebratory meal to celebrate the week. I know it’s some kind of a weird tradition but we do it anyway. I serve this with a nice spaghetti and meatball. It’s the perfect food! Try this one. It’s something to look forward to this coming Friday. Enjoy!


4 slices thick-cut bacon, sliced into 1/4-inch strips, or more to taste
1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved, or more to taste
1 clove garlic, thinly sliced, or more to taste
1/2 cup chicken stock, or more as needed
1 tablespoon butter, or to taste
1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar, or more to taste
salt and ground black pepper to taste

How to make Skillet-Braised Brussels Sprouts

Step 1: Place a skillet on the stove and turn the heat to medium-low.

Step 2: Add in the bacon and cook until crispy for 8 to 10 minutes.

Step 3: Remove the bacon from the skillet and transfer them into a plate with a paper towel to remove the excess oil. Leave the bacon grease into the skillet.

Step 4: Turn the heat to medium-high and saute’ the Brussel sprouts for 2 to 3 minutes until the color turns light brown.

Step 5: Add in the garlic and saute’ for 1 to 2 minutes or until aromatic.

Step 6: Pour the chicken stock into the skillet and cover with the lid.

Step 7: Allow it to simmer for  4 to 5 minutes or until the Brussels sprouts turn bright green.

Step 8: Remove the cover and simmer continuously for another 5 minutes or until the liquid is completely dried out and sprouts are soft.

Step 9: Turn off the heat and remove the skillet.

Step 10: Add in the butter, bacon, vinegar, salt, and pepper into the skillet with the Brussels sprouts. Stir until well-mixed and until the butter is completely melted.

Step 11: Serve hot and enjoy!
